State of Cultural Policy Event
The State of Cultural Policy event promotes research-based, inclusive, and constructive dialogue on the current state and future directions of Finnish cultural policy. The programme will be published on 8 April, and registration starts on 15 April on Cupore’s website.
Cultural policy needs space for discussion – and the discussion needs structures. Cupore is helping to build this space and its structures through the State of Cultural Policy event, a new forum for societal debate on cultural policy in Finland.
The event will be held at Lasipalatsi Bio Rex in central Helsinki. For one full day, the venue will come alive with discussions and speeches drawing on the State of Cultural Policy 2025 report, alongside networking opportunities for professionals, decision-makers, experts, and practitioners across the arts and culture sector.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMME AND REGISTRATION
The morning programme will open with the launch of the State of Cultural Policy 2025 report, followed by commentaries and a panel discussion. In the afternoon, moderated dialogues will explore key directions in Finnish cultural policy.
The full programme will be available on Cupore’s website from 8 April.
The morning programme is free and open to all — both in person and online. The afternoon programme requires a ticket and attendance in person.
Registration starts on 15th of April and closes on 18th of May.

MORE ABOUT THE EVENT AND THE PROJECT
The event is part of Cupore’s State of Cultural Policy project, which aims to improve the overall understanding of the current state of Finnish cultural policy. The project operates independently of day-to-day politics and supports evidence-based societal dialogue through the project report and the State of Cultural Policy event.
The State of Cultural Policy is a pilot event, and its success will be assessed — in part through a visitor survey — to inform decisions about whether and how to continue the concept going forward.

The project is funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation. The event is organised in cooperation with the Amos Anderson Foundation and the Nordic Culture Point.
Cupore – the Center for Cultural Policy Research – is a leading expert organisation in cultural policy research. It produces and disseminates research, studies, and evaluations to support decision‑making and civil society. Cupore is maintained by the Foundation for Cultural Policy Research.
