Cupore Examines the Current State of Copyright Valuation

News   1.6.2026

In May, Cupore launched a new project, “The Value of Copyright”, which aims to develop a comprehensive overview of the current state of copyright asset valuation in Finland. The project seeks to increase understanding of how the value of copyrights is assessed in companies and to identify existing gaps in the knowledge base.

Through stakeholder engagement and a workshop to be held in late autumn, the project will initiate a broader discussion on the valuation of copyright assets in Finland. The objective is to improve companies’ ability to manage and leverage their intangible assets.

The project supports the implementation of both the National Intellectual Property Strategy (2022) and the Growth Strategy for the Creative Economy (2025). It responds to the objectives of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s government programme to create a functional business environment for Finnish innovation and creative industries. The project also furthers the goals outlined in the Cultural Policy Report (2024) to develop, in cooperation with stakeholders, principles for valuing copyright and intellectual capital, and to enhance dialogue between companies in the sector and financiers.

The project will be carried out between May and December 2026.
