Presentation

I have worked at Cupore as a Senior Researcher since May 2016. In my role, I serve both as the lead researcher responsible for research projects and as a member of the research team in several projects. My research interests include theoretical approaches to cultural policy, impact and evaluation of cultural policy, cultural participation, art and culture funding, and history and institutionalization of cultural policy. My current projects focus particularly on state funding for arts and culture, its impact, as well as arts and artist policies. At Cupore, I am a member of the management team and the research leadership team, and since summer 2023, I have also served as Deputy Director.

I am an Adjunct Professor (Docent) in Cultural Policy at the University of Jyväskylä. I earned my doctorate in 2012. My basic academic background is in history (M.A.) and sociology (M.Soc.Sc.).

Prior to taking up the post in Cupore I worked as a senior lecturer in the Master’s Degree Programme of Cultural Policy in the University of Jyväskylä. I have also worked for the Finnish Cultural Foundation as a Fund Officer. During the years 2017-2020 I was the editor-in chief of the Nordic Journal of Cultural Policy (Nordisk kulturpolitisk tidsskrift) where I continue as a member of editorial board, and have also chaired the Finnish Society for Cultural Policy Research.
